This semester immerses students in Spanish language and culture not only through classroom instruction, but also through excursions and living with a 西班牙寄宿家庭.

  • GPA 2.5+

  • Completed SPA 301 with a grade of C or better, or its test equivalency
  • Not on academic probation or have recent, serious, or repetitive behavioral citations 来自学生教务长

Students participate during the fall semester and earn 15 credits that count towards Spanish major/minor requirements. Prior to arrival, students will take a language placement test to determine course level. Upon arrival, course placement and selection 将最终确定. Please note, depending on the semester not all elective classes may be offered and/or some may have conflicting schedule 次.

  • Spanish and Spanish American Cinema (Cine Espanola e Hispano Americano) (3 credits, SPA 299西班牙语选修)

  • Written Skills Practice for Superior or Advanced level (Destrezas Escritas Superior/Avanzado) (3 credits, SPA 299西班牙语选修)

Included in the program fee are some excursions designed to augment the program's curriculum, taking students to various cities and cultural sites both locally and 区域. In the past students have traveled to Granada, Seville, Madrid, Ronda, Cordoba, and Toledo as part of these excursions (locations vary year-to-year). 此外, Cursos分析 offers extra excursions for additional costs or students can construct their own experiences through independent travel. 

Participants will be placed in home-stays with local families. 此设置提供 the opportunity to build friendships and gain insight into daily living, as well as an immediate local resource for the individual student. 融入日常 workings of the host family home allows for regular and practical language application and insight into cultural values and behaviors. Additionally host families provide 3 meals a day and laundry facilities to students (included in program fee).

The program fee is in addition to Aquinas tuition. Students will not be charged Aquinas housing fees and do not need an Aquinas meal plan if they participate in 这个程序.

Approximate cost Fall 2024: $7,500

The Office of 国际项目 will assist in the registration and enrollment process for 这个程序 once they have received the signed contract and deposit to 确认参与.

签证

A study visa is required for stays exceeding 90 days. As this is a 10 week program, a study visa shouldn’t be needed for US citizens. Keep in mind that independent travel before or after the program may make obtaining a visa necessary (please communicate to the Office of 国际项目 if this may apply to you). Cursos分析 will provide some of the documentation needed to apply for a visa (if required). 

奖学金

Once you have committed to 这个程序, the Office of 国际项目 will reach out to the 金融援助 Office to confirm your participation and they will determine your eligibility for the Dr. 哈利和夫人. Sheila Knopke Scholarship for International Study and any other internal scholarships.
